First Annual WCS Talks Provide a Beacon of Hope

Picture
2nd speaker: Lindsay Wood, self-described “The LED Lady.” One of the first to acquire a green MBA in the US... she told us how her search for a new career led her to LED lighting, something she didn’t know anything about. But no one was claiming the space, so she did — in a fine example of how far we can go when we’re bold, passionate and dedicated to pursuing a clear vision.

"I wanted to thank you for speaking at the Next Generation Streetlight workshop yesterday. I know the time and effort it takes to develop and give a presentation, and we really appreciate your insights and contributions to making the event a success!

Your presentation was very well received, and attendees certainly benefited from your on-the-ground perspective of LED conversions "

Lindsay Wood, founder of "The LED Lady LLC" has been a pioneer in leading businesses to improve their lighting while reducing energy and maintenance costs with the use of LED technology.  Lindsay is a trail blazer in retrofitting the popular, yet obsolete 2' and 4' fluorescent tube to current LED technology. Her presentations bring deep knowledge and insight about where we've been with lighting to how and why the shift to LED is growing. Her speaking style is engaging, humorous, while maintaining a level of expertise and keeping it relevant. With more than 20 years in sales and marketing, Lindsay earned her Green MBA in 2003, and ever since has used her skills and talents to further sustainability.

Before "The LED Lady", she was known as "Betty Biodiesel", acting as the Master of Ceremonies for numerous Northern CA Events while promoting biofuels and green lifestyles. She managed the launch of the first LEED gold biofuels station in the US. Lindsay is on the board of Women in Clean Tech and Sustainability. She currently lives with her husband in Marin County, CA, and loves to mountain bike, travel, dance, sew and produce videos. She has been seen on TV20, Press Democrat, The San Francisco Chronicle and The Bay Guardian to name a few.

An understanding of the variety of lighting characteristics is important in making good lighting choices." - The LED Lady
